Meet Steven

Comic-style Art

Steven Brousseau is a multi-talented artist who began drawing at a young age.  During his teen years, Brousseau enjoyed reading Marvel and DC comics,. He not only appreciated the  story content, he also valued  the way the comic artists utilized shape, form, line, light and dark, and shadow to develop the characters to tell a visual story.  He began developing his own personal comic artform by  drawing comic characters for ads for his high school’s student store.

Inspired by Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Jack Kirby, Alex Ross, Joe Sacco, and others, Steven utilizes his creative talent to draw comic-style illustrations of World War II veterans and other characters created from his imagination.

Brousseau has interviewed over 65 WWII veterans and plans on creating a series of comic-style illustrations, including short stories and eventually a couple of graphic novels depicting the stories and the heroic service of these veterans. Steven’s involvement stems from his belief that “Doing this is my way of serving them back as they have served us. I feel like it is something that I owe them”.

Oil Paintings

In recent years, oil painting has become an integral part of Brousseau's artistic journey. With over nine years of experience, he has honed his skills in working with thick textures, palette knives, and various color palettes while studying impressionist and modern artists' techniques.

Brousseau realized that when he visited art museums, he was mainly drawn to artworks that depicted landscapes. He enjoyed the way various artists interpreted nature by using various textures and colors, as well as how they represented physical and spatial elements.

Influenced by Claude Monet and Paul Gauguin, Steven’s paintings, which are primarily landscapes, showcase the beauty of nature, with a focus on desert scenes and seascapes inspired by California's diverse topographies.

A prolific artist, Brousseau has already painted over 60 artworks on canvas. He hopes to sell his artwork on his website and share his creations in various art shows and exhibitions.
